CSA Heaven!
I got my first CSA box on Thursday and HOLY SHIT is it the best thing ever.
I got kale, romaine and red fire lettuces, strawberries, 2 spring onions, beets, a hothouse tomato, garden peas, and a bag of boiled peanuts.
So far I have made:
-Watermelon-Romaine smoothies with apple juice and spearmint from my garden
-Daal with spring onion, tomato, and beets

Israeli-ish Walnut Hummus
I just made some DELICIOUS hummus using toasted walnuts instead of tahini. I used to basic recipe from myjewishlearning.com.

I’ve been making some questionable financial decisions lately. (See “But that bathing suit is Marc Jacobs, and it actually looks super cute on me! Originally $150 and up, found at Marshall’s for $49! And the other one is cute too! I cannot decide! I shall transfer $100 from my Emergency Account and buy them both and maaaaaybe I’ll return one later once I decide...

Victory! Gymboree Bans Use of Uzbek Cotton →
I work for Gymboree Play & Music (as a Teacher, not in retail), and I was pissed when I learned that the corporation was using cotton from Uzbekistan, which is harvested usingchild labor. Which is fucked up. BUT then I researched this further and found that after thousands of letters of petition were sent to Mama Gymboree (Inc.), they no longer use ironic-tragi-cotton. Good for you! (Us?)
Green Monster Smoothie →
And because of my new diet, I have been searching for vegan and vegetarian cooking blogs to inspire me to make and eat healthy food (because it’s so easy to be a “vegetarian” without eating many vegetables at all!). Oh She Glows is my current favorite, and I am definitely making this Green Monster Smoothie tomorrow. I’ve done Green Smoothies before and I think...
White Tiger and the Bed of Roses →
…is my favorite band name of all time. I saw them at Kraken Fest on Saturday and they blew my mind. I think the lineup may have changed since the stuff on the myspace page was recorded—there was a chick playing saxophone and a different (gorgeous) drummer last weekend.
Jonquil →
I saw Jonquil perform at Local 506 back in March. It was a Wednesday and there were approximately 3 people in the audience including me, and I felt very lucky to see this band that I had previously never heard of. They’re from Oxford, UK, currently on a US tour, and just signed to NYC’s Dovecoat Records. I loved their music and adorably floppy hair.
My New Year's Resolution Was To Blog
I’d like to have more of a focus to this little blog, and since it’s been about a year since I posted, the time is probably ripe to start anew. This is a huge year for me with many changes. To name a few:
I quit smoking.
I started a Yoga Teacher Training course, and I’ve become a vegetarian and have been doing yoga every day for the past month as a result.
I learned to love...
